The US and Japan formalized an action plan on critical minerals, initially focusing cooperation on a select group including rare earths, lithium, and copper. Japanese firms Mitsubishi Materials and Mitsui & Co will participate in four US-based projects, including rare earth refining in Indiana and lithium mining in North Carolina, as both nations seek to reduce dependence on Chinese supply chains.
