Japan, France agree rare earths deal to cut China reliance

Japan and France have agreed to launch a joint public-private rare earths project in southwestern France by year-end, aiming to reduce dependence on China for critical mineral refining. The deal strengthens Western efforts to build alternative rare earth supply chains outside Chinese dominance.
