Brazil's Serra Verde is preparing to ramp up output of scarce heavy rare earths at its Pela Ema operation in Goias, which now produces roughly 100 metric tons of rare earth oxides annually. The expansion comes alongside USA Rare Earth's $2.8 billion deal to acquire the company, which could make Serra Verde responsible for more than 50% of heavy rare earth production outside China by 2027.
