Trump reverses Minnesota mining ban

President Trump signed H.J.Res. 140 into law on Monday, overturning a 2023 Biden administration decision that had placed a 20-year ban on mining and geothermal leasing across more than 225,000 acres of national forest land in northeastern Minnesota. The move reopens large swaths of Cook, Lake and Saint Louis counties to potential resource development, including Antofagasta's Twin Metals copper-nickel project.
