Appalachian lithium cache enough to power 130 million EVs, USGS says

A new US Geological Survey study estimates the Appalachian region holds 2.3 million metric tons of undiscovered, economically recoverable lithium spanning Maine, New Hampshire, and the Carolinas. That is enough battery metal to replace 328 years of US lithium imports at 2025 levels and to power 130 million electric vehicles, dramatically strengthening America's domestic critical minerals outlook.
