France convenes G7 on critical minerals to curb Chinas grip

France will convene a virtual meeting of G7 ministers in the coming days to coordinate on critical minerals supply, ahead of a mid-June summit of G7 leaders. The push reflects rising Western concern about Chinas dominance in rare earths, lithium, cobalt and other strategic raw materials needed for AI, defense and clean energy.
