Freeport delays Grasberg full restart to early 2028

PT Freeport Indonesia has confirmed the delayed restart of full production at the Grasberg mine, as it continues to recover from a deadly accident last year that crippled the global copper supply chain. Freeport now aims for 65% capacity in the second half of 2026, 80% by mid-2027, and near full capacity by the end of 2027, with full restart pushed to early 2028.
