Lithium Americas sees up to $120M tariff hit on Thacker Pass

Lithium Americas says US steel tariffs, Iran conflict inflation and Strait of Hormuz shipping disruptions could add $80-120 million to construction costs at its Thacker Pass lithium project in Nevada. The company still expects Phase 1 spending of $1.3-$1.6 billion this year as construction accelerates toward a late-2027 startup of the strategic 40,000-tpa lithium carbonate operation.
