Military-backed intruders occupy huge cobalt deposit in Congo

Eurasian Resources Group says intruders have taken over a large part of its Metalkol cobalt-copper tailings deposit near Kolwezi in the Democratic Republic of Congo, exploiting the site on a near-industrial scale. The takeover, allegedly authorized by the government for riverbed cleanup, threatens one of the world's top cobalt producers and raises fresh concerns about supply chain security.
