Australian lithium mine cleared to double output as prices soar

The massive Mount Holland lithium mine in Western Australia has received regulatory approval for a major expansion that will double production to 4.4 million tons of spodumene per annum. The move comes as spodumene concentrate prices hit a more than 2-year high of $2,890 a ton on May 12, with Australia adding fresh supply to a rallying lithium market.
