Oklahoma's attorney general sues to block largest US aluminum smelter

Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond has filed a lawsuit to block Emirates Global Aluminum and Century Aluminum from building the largest US aluminum smelter, a $4 billion project backed by President Trump and a $500 million Department of Energy grant. Drummond, who is running for governor, cited pollution concerns and the project's ties to United Arab Emirates sovereign wealth funds. If built near Inola, the 750,000-tonne-per-year plant would be the first new US primary aluminum smelter since 1980.
