China's rare earth exports rose 3.4% in May from the prior month to a four-month high of 5,490 tonnes, the highest level since January, as overseas buyers restocked ahead of the traditional summer lull. The total was up from 5,309 tonnes in April but still below the 5,864 tonnes shipped in May 2025. The figures underscore steady global demand for the group of 17 minerals essential to EVs, wind turbines and defense technology.
