Nigeria identifies major new critical minerals district, large lithium discovery

Nigeria announced a major new polymetallic mineral province in Kaduna state containing platinum group metals, gold, nickel, copper, lithium and rare earth elements. Steron Mining, working with the Nigerian Geological Survey Agency, identified about 3.3 million tonnes of lithium reserves within an estimated 94.8 million tonnes of resources, as Africa's largest oil producer seeks to diversify beyond oil and position itself in clean-energy supply chains.
