French firm Carester to build rare earths separation plant in Malaysia's Perak

French rare earths specialist Carester plans to build a separation plant in Malaysia's Perak state capable of processing about 13,000 tonnes annually, under a 10-year joint venture with local miner Malaco Mining. The partnership is also seeking permits for in-situ leach mining and would produce light and heavy rare earths including neodymium, praseodymium, dysprosium and terbium, reinforcing Malaysia's position as a rare earths hub outside China.
