EGA to ramp up Al Taweelah alumina refinery to 50% of capacity within days

Emirates Global Aluminium said its Al Taweelah alumina refinery in Abu Dhabi has restarted production of the feedstock used for aluminum smelting and will ramp up to 50% of capacity within days. The restart raised expectations for a faster-than-expected recovery of Gulf aluminum output after disruptions from the Iran war, and pressured LME aluminum prices, which fell 1.5% to $3,152 a tonne. Full hot-metal output may still take up to a year to restore.
